Oh you know. Myths, exaggerations. Everything gets so quickly out of hand.

Sweet enough to rot teeth I think. I'm from Borogravia at the moment. Holidays were Abominations there for some time. Before that, well. Vampires don't much do holidays.

And why not? I mean, is there any reason you'd have to NOT celebrate?

Abominations. Unto Nuggan, specifically. He's a very controlling god. Loves the minutia.

Holidays become unimportant when you'll live through about a million of them.

Nuggan sounds a little like one of our deities. Mind if I ask to hear a little more about him?

What IS important to you or your kind then?

My answer to the latter is 'coffee'. I think you can probably guess a more general answer to What Is Important To Vampires if you think about it. You don't even have to think very hard. It's an obvious answer.

Nuggan is the State God of Borogravia. Also in charge of paperclips, paperwork (unnecessary), and well organised stationary sets. Personified by a small man with a neat moustache. To follow the Word of Nuggan is to obey the Prohibitions of Nuggan, since that's all his Word involves. These are the Abominations. I'm not a Nugganite myself but I palled around with the dubiously devout and learnt a great deal about Abominations.

Also he's completely wacko, is Nuggan. Not blasphemy if it's true. If you really have got gods like him I'm sorrier for you than I think I'm allowed to be.

You know, I'd like to say we don't have any deities like that back home, but honestly I wouldn't be surprised. There were only twelve at the start but we're in the hundreds now, of varying importance and strength.

So there might be. But if so, I hate to say it but he's probably only got a handful of Gifted and priests and the like.

What others do you have in your world? Anyone interesting?

Do you mean only a few would have passed his tests and been found worthy of Gifts, or they would have grown tired of his madness and chucked out his Gifts out of spite? I could see it either way. Though the later probably only after a great deal of self reflection and personal battles with ingrained guilt.

And we also have hundreds and hundreds and hundreds never mind the goddesses Blind Io. Offler. Neoldian. Sweevo. Om. You obviously know how it goes: of every need is born a god.

No god of vampires though.

The latter. Anyone can refuse to become a deity's Gifted, which is why it's in the best interests of our deities to endear themselves to us. Without us, without the bonds they could fade away into nothing.

Interesting that there isn't a god of vampires. Is it because you and your kind have no need?

Maybe you should find yourself a god or goddess of coffee instead.

How interesting. I think that's generally how it works for gods but it's rarely acknowledged or part of the doctrine. That'd be like letting a prince do all the ruling so long as he kept you happy and that would be downright preposterous.

Maybe it's need. Also something fiddly with the soul probably. And if it's a mutual you make me happy, I'll make you happy, sort of agreement... We generally like to be in charge.

Well, not me any longer. Done with all that. Still ended up promoted first. I think it may have been the sword and also bone instinct.

Argument could be made that coffee IS my god.

It's a rather big part of the contract they've all signed. No implications there.

Coffee WOULD probably make a good god. Very undemanding, very helpful, and preparation can be a rather soothing ritual in the morning.

Or evening.

Whenever it is you make your coffee.

Are these actual contracts? Ink and parchment, signature lines, receipt copy for your records and all?

You have no idea on the soothing. And generally I make coffee all the time. Morning, noon, night. Intensely devoted.

Actual contracts. There's a copy kept in the Council's palace and everything.

Are you intensely devoted to only one kind, or would you be interested in trying coffee from another world? I found some that I think is just about like what we have in my world. An Asarian blend, I'm pretty sure.

I'm trying to imagine gods that would agree to something like this. It's very difficult.

My kind of coffee is 'hot' and 'black'. And I'll make exceptions for either out of necessity, or boredom.

In other words, love to try it.

At the time, our people were the only ones left in the world who would have them. It was either agree to terms or fade into nothing.

I'll see what I can find and let you know when I've got it then. Definitely not to be missed.

Given the freedom this place has with giving out whatever we can think up, I sincerely doubt that I'll have to go out of my way. More likely some gift will just turn up on my bedside table.
