[Hmmmmmmmm.]

I'll try to make it brief regardless.

In Borogravia I was part of the 10th Foot, Cheesemongers. Long standing time honoured army regiment with illustrious past and humerous songs written about them, good fortune to be among the other men serving under Sgt Jackrum who was famous in his own right and pretty much knew everyone.

Only they weren't men they were all girls. Which I worked out at first glance since I'm blessed with about a dozen extra senses one of which is smelling the subtleties of blood. Also they were quite bad at pretending.

Whereas I was very good. Didn't get found out until I admitted it which is something to be proud of.

I wasn't chasing after a boy in the army or escaping a totalitarian workhouse or rescuing anybody. But I did hate the dresses. And the expectations. Even male vampires get more rights than female vampires, and higher necklines and, you know, less ridiculous undergarments with buckles and straps and things. And I was already breaking traditions.

Then I came here and it just sort of went on. It's not something I think about very much any longer. I don't even think that it matters really.
